The role

Reporting into the Head of Legal and Compliance, this role will primarily provide legal advice and support to the Product and Diversified Business Division (including HCF Life and Flip Pty Limited) in areas such as financial services law, ASIC & APRA regulation, overseas visitor health cover and LICOP, however will be called on to support other divisions from time to time.

Key Responsibilities of the role:

  • Reviewing and drafting product disclosure statements, financial services guides, target market determinations, policy documentation and other financial services collateral.
  • Reviewing and drafting all marketing, advertising and other front line material for the financial services products
  • Reviewing, drafting and negotiating legal contracts (third party supplier agreements, confidentiality agreements, licence agreements and sponsorship agreements) for HCF Group companies
  • Ensuring staff at all levels understand their responsibilities in relation to legal contracts and what support can be provided by HCF Legal
  • Providing legal advice to the Product and Diversified Business Division (including HCF Life and Flip Pty Limited)  as required;
  • Briefing HCF Group Legal Panel firms for advice as required;
  • Support the Head of Legal and Compliance and other Senior Legal Counsel with business as usual activities as and when required to provide capacity for Head of Legal and Compliance to assist with our 2025 initiatives
  • Keeping up to date with legislative and regulatory developments impacting the Product and Diversified Business Division (including HCF Life and Flip Pty Limited).
  • Providing legal training to the Product and Diversified Business Division (including HCF Life and Flip Pty Limited) as required
  • Keeping up to date with legal developments and practices and understanding their interrelationship with legal risk and compliance and other assurance practices

About you

  • Experience in Financial Services Law
  • A law degree from a recognised Australian or overseas institution
  • 7 years post admission experience preferably in both a private practice and in-house environment
  • Ability to engage staff at all levels of the organisation through strong interpersonal skills
  • Proven ability to set priorities and to ensure that objectives are met
  • Sound judgement applied to complex decision making
  • Strong facilitation and coaching skills
  • Excellent and effective written and communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Proven generalist experience and the ability to work at both strategic and operational levels
